Base Command turns a wall-mounted tablet into your family’s headquarters: a shared calendar, daily chores, homeschool tracking, and a rewards game kids actually want to play. Parents run it all from their phones.
HQ, the one home screen. Every number is a button.
The field guide
Everything starts at HQ
There’s no menu to learn. Tap a kid’s name for their dashboard, tap “Duties 75%” for today’s chores. Every target is big enough for small hands, and every screen fits without scrolling.
HQ
The home screen. Each kid’s Merits, duties and schoolwork at a glance.
Ops
The family calendar: day by person, week or month, color-coded for each family member.
Duties
Chores for morning and evening, each worth Merits when it’s done.
Academy
Homeschool lessons, courses and reading logs, tracked for each kid.
The PX
The rewards store, where kids spend Merits on treats and privileges you choose.
Supply Drop
A bonus wheel. Finishing things earns crates, and the odds are right there on the wheel.
Objectives
Savings goals, personal challenges, medals, and a squad goal the whole family works toward.
Inspection
Spot-check finished duties and approve reward requests.
Command
The parent controls, on your phone or behind a PIN on the tablet.
Ops
One calendar the whole family can read from across the room
Every event takes its person’s color, so everyone can see who has soccer practice and who has the dentist. Switch between a day view split by person, the week and the month. Connect Google Calendar and it all stays in step with your phone.
Each kid has a dashboard with today’s duties and lessons, their rank, their current objective and what’s coming up. Checking something off pays Merits right away, and parents can spot-check it later.
Morning and evening duties, with “requires inspection” for the big ones
Homeschool by subject, course and lesson, plus a reading log
A 4‑digit PIN for each kid, so siblings can’t check off each other’s work
The PX · Supply Drop
Rewards that feel like arcade tickets, not allowance
Kids earn Merits for duties, lessons, finished books and objectives, then spend them at the PX on rewards you set: screen time, picking dessert, a front-seat day. Finishing things also earns crates for the Supply Drop bonus wheel.
Ranks from Recruit to Five-Star General follow lifetime Merits, so spending never costs a promotion
Wheel slices are sized to their real odds
Merits can’t be bought and have no cash value
Objectives · Medals
Goals worth working toward, and medals to prove it
Kids save up for something big or take on a challenge like reading twelve books. A squad objective gets everyone pulling together toward a family reward, like pizza and a movie night out.
Savings goals tied to PX rewards
Streaks, reading and duty challenges with bonus Merits
Medals for the milestones
Command
Run it all from your phone
Parents sign in with Google and get the Command view: every kid at a glance, what needs your attention, and the controls for duties, Academy, PX rewards, objectives, the roster and settings.
Inspection: pass or fail finished duties, approve or deny reward requests
Invite a co-parent with a one-time code
Pair wall tablets with a 6‑digit code. Tablets never need a Google account.
Also in the kit
Trading Post
Kids swap duties or pay a sibling to take one. A fairness meter flags lopsided deals, and you can require approval.
Volunteer missions
Extra jobs anyone can claim for bonus Merits.
Kid PINs
Only parents can set them, and kids are signed out automatically after a minute without a tap.
Live on every screen
Check something off on the wall and it shows up on your phone within seconds.
Works offline
If the Wi-Fi drops, the tablet keeps working and catches up when it reconnects.
Night Ops
A dark theme for the evening, one tap away on HQ.
Google Calendar
Two-way Google Calendar sync
Connecting Google Calendar is optional. A parent turns it on in Command → Settings → Google Calendar, then picks which calendars appear on the wall and who each one belongs to.
Events from the calendars you turn on appear on Ops, in that person’s color.
Events added on the tablet or a phone go to the Google calendar you choose.
Edits and deletions made in Base Command are made in Google Calendar too.
Changes made in Google show up within 15 minutes, or right away when you sync.
What Base Command asks Google for, and why
Permission
Why Base Command needs it
Your name, email address and profile pictureopenidemailprofile
To create your parent account and show which parent is signed in.
See and download any calendar you can accesscalendar.readonly
To list your calendars so you can choose which ones to show, then read the events on the calendars you turn on and show them on your family’s calendar.
View and edit events on all your calendarscalendar.events
To add, change and delete events in your Google Calendar when your family adds, changes or deletes them in Base Command.
Base Command uses Google data only to provide these features. We don’t sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. You can disconnect at any time in Command → Settings → Google Calendar, or remove access from your Google Account.
Add your kids, their colors and their 4‑digit PINs. Then set up duties, lessons and PX rewards in Command.
03
Pair the wall tablet
On the tablet, choose “Set up this wall tablet” and enter the 6‑digit code from your phone. No Google account needed.
04
Connect your calendar
If you like, connect Google Calendar and choose which calendars show on the wall.
Tablet tip: any tablet with a modern browser works, and 10 inches or larger is best. On Android, a kiosk browser such as Fully Kiosk Browser keeps the screen on HQ around the clock.
Your family’s data
Strictly need-to-know
Base Command holds things that matter: your kids’ names, schedules and schoolwork. Here’s how we treat them.
Walled off by family
Each family’s data lives in its own separate database. Only your family’s parents and paired tablets can reach it.
No accounts for kids
Kids use the wall tablet with a PIN. No email addresses, no profiles, no chat.
No ads. Nothing sold.
We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use your family’s information to train AI models.
Yours to take or delete
Export everything to a file, disconnect Google at any time, and ask us to delete your account.
Base Command is free to use right now. If that ever changes, we’ll tell you well ahead of time, and you won’t be charged unless you agree.
What do I need?
A tablet for the wall (Android or iPad; 10 inches or bigger works best) and a phone for each parent. It all runs in a web browser at app.familybasecommand.com.
Do my kids need accounts or email addresses?
No. Kids use the wall tablet with a 4‑digit PIN, and only a parent can set or change it. Only parents sign in, with Google.
Do I have to use Google Calendar?
No. Ops works on its own as your family calendar. Connecting Google Calendar is optional, and you can disconnect at any time. See what the connection does.
Can both parents use it?
Yes. In Command → Settings → Family & devices, create an invite code for your co-parent. They sign in with their own Google account and enter the code.
Are Merits real money?
No. Merits work like arcade tickets. Kids earn them for duties, schoolwork and goals and spend them on rewards you set in the PX. They can’t be bought or cashed out.
What happens if the Wi-Fi drops?
The tablet keeps working with the data it has and syncs any changes as soon as it reconnects.
How do I delete my data?
Disconnect Google Calendar in Command → Settings → Google Calendar. To delete your account or your family’s data, email support@familybasecommand.com. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Report to HQ.
Sign in with Google, set up your family and pair the tablet. It takes a few minutes.
